Ministry Update 5/4/19
Wow are we amazed at God‘s blessing on the great Twin Rivers Baptist Church Of New Bern, NC. We are experiencing a perpetual revival! We have recently started some new bus routes and some new Sunday school classes. Our Faith Promise Missions Program is expanding quickly. Our Senior Citizens Ministry is called, “The Young at Heart Ministry” and is extremely well attended and is in the capable leadership hands of Don and Susan Hollinger. We just concluded our 2019 Spring Program. We had an exciting competition between our adult Sunday school classes and it created a wonderful atmosphere. I think the dunk tank had something to do with that…lol! A total of 52 people walked the aisle publicly professing Christ as Savior during our four-week program with hundreds of others being saved out in our soul winning ministries on the streets.
We are launching Twin River Baptist Academy for K5 – 12th graders in August of this year with Brother JV Elswick as the Administrator. We have also started teaching some college classes at our church and we call our college Practical Bible Baptist College. I myself hold the position of President and Dr. Rick Young is our Vice President. We are developing this college as an online college as well and it will be launched later this year.
Please pray for us as we are in dire need of a new church auditorium. We are raising funds for this as we speak. This new auditorium, once built, will be our fourth in six years. Our church music ministry under the guidance of Brother Chris Edwards is flourishing and has become a superb ministry. Our Youth Conference under the fine leadership of JV Elswick our Youth Pastor/Christian school administrator, has now grown to the point we can barely cram all the people into our facility. What a blessing! Youth conference attendance overflows our auditorium and we find folks setting in the foyer and fellowship hall where they may watch the conference sessions from large screens. Teen soul-winning sees many saved each week.
As many would know hurricane Florence that hit us late in 2018 was somewhat devastating to our city. Our church and city have made a phenomenal come-back and God has been glorified in it all. The hurricane did not stop our church but has actually catapulted it to new heights and growth. President Trump’s visit to our city created quite a stir and we were delighted to have him with us.
The employment in our area is booming, with new shopping plazas popping up everywhere. The weather here is delightful and the people are kind and generous. We are all enjoying the life God has given us here in the South! Come visit us soon!
